| the subwoofer component of alpine mrv-f450 (3/4/5 channel amp) is rated at 200w at 4 ohms: RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-200Hz) Bridged 4 ohms : 80W x 2 + 150W x 1 Per channel into 2 ohms : 40W x 4 + 150W x 1 Per channel into 4 ohms : 30W x 4 + 150W x 1 RMS Power (at 14.4V,20Hz-200Hz) Bridged 4 ohms : 120W x 2 + 200W x 1 Per channel into 2 ohms : 60W x 4 + 200W x 1 Per channel into 4 ohms : 50W x 4 + 200W x 1 jl audio w3v2 model subwoofers are rated 300w on the 4 ohm model or 300w on the 2 ohm model.
after reviewing the jl audio spec sheet it appears that a single 12" jl audio subwoofer can be wired in parallel so that the amp only sees half the rated impedence (2 ohms on a 4 ohm sub / 1 ohm on a 2 ohm sub) JL AUDIO SUBWOOFER SPEC SHEET sooo my question is... if im planning on running all five channels (2 front seperates / 2 rear coaxials x 1 subwoofer) off the amp would the subwoofer realize more then the rated 200w of power if i used a 2 ohm subwoofer wired in parallel for 1 ohm of impedence is there anything wrong with this theory or is there a potential for damage to the subwoofer or amplifier by using the 2 ohm model instead of the 4 ohm model? i apologize for my electrical ignorance... cost of being a history major i guess... thanks for the help and suggestions and ideas for alternative setups would also be appreciated
